EMERYVILLE, California (October 3, 2005) - Nanomix, Incorporated, today announced the appointment of Kevin Birtchnell as Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer to lead the company's financial and administrative activities. In this position, Mr. Birtchnell will report to David Macdonald, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nanomix.

Mr. Birtchnell brings 16 years of diverse experience in both public and private financial, accounting and administrative positions. Prior to joining Nanomix, Mr. Birtchnell was the Vice President Finance and CFO at Xenogen Corporation and served as the Vice President Finance and CFO at Diva Communications. Mr. Birtchnell has also held various finance and accounting positions of increasing responsibility at Somatix Therapy Corporation, Price Waterhouse and Arthur Anderson. Mr. Birtchnell completed his BS degree in Biological Sciences at London University and is a chartered CPA.
